The Duchess of Cambridge became quite the fashion icon, in no small part due to her fabulous appearance as the blushing bride in Alexander McQueen at the Royal Wedding. As a result of her new media prominence, the clothes and trends favoured by the Duchess have enjoyed similar popularity. One style note that seems to have filtered through this year is Kate’s love of the colour blue. She was photographed in many blue pieces last year, including a dark blue wool coat and a lighter blue simple jersey dress from the high street.
The good news for Kate is she will be able to recycle her blue choices this year as the colour is one of the biggest shades for spring/summer. When the catwalk shows for the season took place back in October, blue reigned supreme with big names such as Chanel and McQueen. Now, as these trends finally filter through to the high street and online retailers, the likes of Simply Be USA have launched their own aquatically-inspired ranges. Their ‘into the blue range’ features printed shift dresses, tunics, jumpsuits and accessories that all take sea-sonal inspiration.
So, if you are feeling blue this January, you should find plenty of clothing to meet your mood. Alternatively, if you want to lift your spirits with some uplifting colours, look out for the soft pastels that are also prominent this season.
