I’ve always been pretty lucky in terms of eyesight. Aside from a slight injury to my right eye in a boxing match when I was younger, I’ve never had to undergo treatment. I went from 20/20 to 20/25 and back to 20/20 with laser eye surgery. Instead of having to wear glasses for the rest of my life – or even a solitary contact lens – I was restored to my former glory.
However, with the associated expense of this treatment, people are turned off by it, instead relying on more traditional visual aids instead of enjoying the liberation that good eyesight brings. Still, it’s very much worth the money – you’ve just got to remember the benefits.
Long-term cost
As you get older, your eyes change. This means more eye tests, new glasses, new frames to match trends – it’s a growing mountain of costs. Just dropping your glasses will need a new pair – a scratch or a bent frame may necessitate repair costs, too. Contact lenses can be worse – the “freedom” gained from them isn’t that cheap, nor are the prices of cleaning solutions and storage solutions. You can lose them, too – nightmare!
World-class techniques
Whether it’s the clever incisions made for astigmatism, the high-powered lasers that work with such precision or the doctors who are trained at the highest level to carry out the procedures, you’re in safe hands – you’ll be getting treatment worth the money.
Freedom to do what you want
If you’re a keen sportsman – even if you’re just watching from the sidelines – you’ll want good sight. Swimming, rugby and other activities can be somewhat undermined by a lack of good sight.
Safety when working or driving
Driving can be a burden on long and short-sighted people, as glasses can get in the way or blinker a person’s periphery. Contact lenses, meanwhile, can irritate eyes. You don’t want an accident because of tired eyes!
